Green Aurora Over Lake Superior

Auroras are sparked by energetic particles from the sun interacting with the magnetic environment that surounds the earth. These particles come from Solar Flares caused by the earth's atmosphere. The resultant particles are electrons and protons, which, when they impact the oxygen particles in the atmosphere generate a green light.
